Humidity In Our Breath

Sunday May 29th, 2016
1370 Marisol Street, Los Angeles 90023
5-8pm

Humidity In Our Breath.  Preservationists clench at the thought.   When we sit in a car with the windows rolled up, we witness the humidity in our breath through the fogged windows and condensation rolling down the glass.

It’s a weird thing to think of our breath generating humidity, affecting atmosphere, like a rainforest, and yet, it’s completely scientific.  You can measure it by using the ExhaleCondensation Calculator linked here: http://www.sciencebits.com/ExhaleCondCalc

And still, humidity in our breath slips into weirder psychological spaces.  For instance, humidity in our breath is used to detect if we are still alive, when a stranger holds up an eyeglass lens or mirror to our mouths.

The show’s selected pieces from the following artists, are each unto its own a psychological experience between the real and surreal.

Ouida Angelica Biddle

Jason Gowans

Pearl C. Hsiung

Evan Ellsworth Jourden

William Kaminski

Becky Kolsrud

Amanda McGough

João Rosa

Nicolau Vergueiro

Pilar Wiley
